We had a great time at The Gables Wedding expo over the weekend, we met lots of lovely couples and Melbourne suppliers. The Gables is simply one of Melbourne’s finest venues for weddings, business functions or private dinner parties. Located in the heart of the Gascoigne Estate, East Malvern and surrounded by 100-year-old cypress trees, The Gables is a striking example of Victorian period architecture in the Queen Anne style. No detail has been spared in the maintenance of this century-old residence, from the stained glass windows and open fireplaces, to the classic furnishings and elegant period detailing.

Cafe Renovations - Part 1

March 25, 2015 - Naturelover's Cafe, Heidelberg West

Our Part 1 of our Café renovations are now complete, phew!

So we have been busy little bees over here at Sweet by Nature, and we have been working like crazy in our Retail Outlet. After 10 years, we decided that renovations were in order. Our wonderful team of professionals painted, tiled and sanded and cleaned it up all in just 4 days! Builders, tilers, electricians, painters, as well as our own staff worked from morning until night to pull of the amazing end result.

The kids play area had a total facelift with the addition of fake grass, a blackboard wall, and fairy lights. The tables are now adorned with pot plants and panella sugar. We’ve changed coffee suppliers and upgraded to a shiny new coffee machine. We've also extended our kitchen and brought in a new seconds fridge.

Our homewares are updated weekly, so keep on the look out for all the shiny new things!  There are still a huge amount of changes to come and we cannot wait to share them with you.

March 14, 2015 - Sweet by Nature, Heidelberg West

It was a fantastic day on Saturday, the sun was shining, the dunk tank was full, and our volunteers were ready for action! Our World's Greatest Shave fundraiser is run annually and we love the opportunity to support the Leukaemia Foundation. We had a variety of activities including a dunking machine, bungee run, jumping castle, sticky wall, car show, live bands, and a cupcake and cake-pop making stand. Masters was also generous enough to donate a painting station where kids could paint their own gnome, and then take it home!

We had a huge amount of donations from all of contributors, and without their support this event wouldn't be possible:
AMPM Communications Pty Ltd, Bakery Craft, BAPS Cleaning Services, Beltari Jewel Distributors, Berwick Toyota, Biviano, Catercare Australia, Chadstone, Chocolatier, Cinex, Comic's Lounge, Culina/Top Shelf, Danni Babecki, Egg Marketing, Fresh by Noon, GPS Electrical, Grand Mercure, Green Bean, Hey Jude, Intimo Lingerie, Kerry Pinnacle, Kids Room Hobbies, Lang Lang Golf Club, Leda Nutrition, Little Collins Cafe, Maggie Beer, Marty Thompson, Masters, Matthew Trewin Photography, Michaux Total Body Care, Milestone Chemicals, Mondelez Australia, My Skin Laser Clinics, Natio, Nestle, Nice To Meat You, NSM, Omnifoods, PJ's Express, Procal Dairies, Sierra Jane, Sigrid Petersen Photography, Simone Perele, Superior Foods, Tash Sultana, Ten-4, The Improv Conspiracy, Trisco, and last but not least, Vic Farmhouse.

Love Your Sister 'BoUNCE' Fundraiser Dinner

February 13, 2015 - Zinc, Federation Square

On Friday the 13th of February, we were thrilled to attend Love Your Sister’s “BoUNCE” fundraiser dinner, held at Zinc in Federation Square. The room was full of love and laughter, and hefty number of pink balloons! The storm didn’t dampen the spirits of any of the volunteers involved, and the night was a wonderful experience for us. We watched the video of Connie and Sam's journey, and it brought us to tears, but their dedication left us feeling hopeful. Sam is an incredible human for travelling around Australia on his unicycle, spreading awareness of breast cancer to women everywhere.

The night’s MC was Shawn Cosgrove who provided a ridiculous amount of laughs, as well as DJ Darren Watson who can do the robot like nobody’s business! One of the highlights was a surprise performance from The Chantoozies! Overall, it was an absolutely wonderful night, and one that we were glad to be a small part of. You can donate to Love Your Sister on their website: http://www.loveyoursister.org/

Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph 2013

August 17, 2013 - City of Merbein, Mildura region

Saturday August 17 was a perfectly sunny day for a trip to the country, Megan and Paul enjoyed a festive and wonderful day in the city of Merbein, located just outside Mildura and the location of the 2013 Great Australian Vanilla Slice Truimph.  It was the second year that Merbein had played host to the now famous competition. Originating in 1998 after a visit from the then premier Jeff Kennett in the rural town of Ouyen Victoria, the Great Australian Vanilla Slice Truimph attracts both Vanilla Slice bakers and Vanilla Slice lovers from all round the country.

Sweet by Nature won the professional section in its first year of entry 2010.  This year though,  the local competition was just too strong, with Hudaks Bakery Chain in Mildura scooping the lot; Professional, Innovative, Plum Pudding and Sun Muscat categories.

Sweet by Nature did receive the 2nd place award though for our delicious new Strawberries 'n' Cream Vanilla custard slice, which will be available through our cafe and through some of our customer outlets, for the next 3 months.

"It is a wonderful festival environment...thanks to all those involved at Merbein for being the perfect host for this great event. Watch out Hudaks, we'll sharpen our efforts and be back next year to try again!!" - Megan Misso, founder.
